The Benchmade 585 Mini Barrage is a small everyday knife , equipped with a 154CM steel supported blade , a profiled Valox handle and a proven axis-lock. Hard tool steel The knife has a 74 mm long blade made of 154CM hard tool steel with a hardness of 58-61 HRC . 154CM is a high carbon stainless steel enriched with the addition of molybdenum, so it can be described as an improved version of 440C. American 154CM steel is valued for corrosion and wear resistance (high impact strength), long-term sharpness and relative ease of sharpening. Sharpening such steel is difficult and time-consuming, and you should also remember about regular maintenance of the blade. In return, however, the user receives a tool whose aggressive cutting and extremely long maintenance of working sharpness perfectly compensate for the mentioned disadvantages. Utility blade The blade with a useful drop-point profile was finished with the satin (polishing) technique. The frosted blade is easier to clean and does not reflect light. Thanks to the use of a durable point, flat grind and a cutting edge with a gently rounded line, the knife easily penetrates and has excellent cutting properties . On the back section of the spine, transverse cutters were made, allowing for stable finger support during planing or precise cutting. The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 2.5 mm, which is a compromise between the durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work. Headboard with support The blade can be conveniently and quickly unfolded with one hand using a double-sided pin , which is convenient for right and left-handed people. The opening process is facilitated and accelerated by the assist mechanism . Gently lifting the two-sided pin activates an internal spring that dynamically unfolds the blade. Such functionality means that the knife is ready to work in a fraction of a second. Two locks The flagship Benchmade mechanism, the double-sided Axis-lock lock, is responsible for work safety, valued for its great mechanical strength , resistance to dirt and ease of use for right and left-handed users. The knife uses an additional lock that prevents accidental folding and unfolding of the blade when carrying. The slider of the second safety mechanism is located on the back of the handle. Comfortable handle The knife has contoured Valox claddings made of a thermoplastic polymer characterized by high mechanical strength, resistance to high temperatures and solvents. The profiled shape combined with cutouts for fingers and oblique grooving ensures excellent grip of the knife and comfort in use . The construction of the knife is reinforced with full inserts made of 420 steel (liners). Reversible clip Discreet carrying of the knife in the pocket is possible thanks to the standard clip with the possibility of mounting on both sides of the handle .
